WHO IS SUITABLE?
The number of treatments varies with each individual, depending on such factors as color of hair ( black is best). The best results are obtained when the skin is light, and the hair is black. Brown hair does less well, and red, blonde, and white not at all.

Several treatments are required at the start of laser therapy because of the growth cycle of the hair follicles.  Each hair follicle goes through growing and resting phases. The number of active follicles and the length of the growth phase varies. The first treatment will only damage some of the follicles.  After a few weeks,  previously resting follicles will begin growing, which then can be lasered, and repeated monthly or 6 week intervals.

Info on the Process

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Cool Glide laser is a ND: YAG , with a wavelength of 1064  nanometers, making it the safest laser for treating tanned skin.  The  hand piece cools as it glides along your skin.  When the pulse of infrared light is delivered, some patients feel a mild pinching or stinging sensation.

An infrared light is absorbed by the hair follicles. The light energy is turned into heat, and damages the follicles to reduce the amount of  hair.  The hair falls out after one or two weeks, and subsequent re-growth will be finer and sparser.  Most areas require at least 5 treatments, with a few touch ups.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Immediately after your treatment, the area may appear a little red and swollen, but should be gone by the next day.  About a week to two weeks you may experience what seems to be re-growth of the hair.  Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of the treatment, and are not re-growing.  In between treatments you shouldn't wax or pluck, but it is permissible to shave.

WHAT PREPARATION IS REQUIRED?
There must be dark hair in the follicle, so waxing and plucking should be stopped well before the treatment. On the day of the treatment you should not apply deodorants, or moisturizers containing sunscreen.
